Independence Day is unarguably our favorite holiday. What’s not to love? The sun is out, the pool is cold, the best fruits are all in season, everything is cooked on the grill, the days are long, and oh yeah – HAPPY BIRTHDAY ‘MERICA!
Starting July 3, Lexington will be brimming with activity from the festival, 10K, and fireworks. Here’s where to get your brunch on with friends and family from out of town:
Thursday July 4
8 a.m.-2 p.m.
Raise your hand if you love a weekday brunch! ✋✋✋ 8 a.m. is a weeeee bit early to start brunching, but it’s a holiday, so rules don’t apply here. Check it out after (or during) the Bluegrass 10,000 – cheerleaders have a front row seat! 🏃
West Sixth Greenroom
Saturday July 6
10 a.m.-1 p.m.
This weekly brunch has been going on since May 11 but we’re just catching wind of it! 😲 Food will be provided by next-door neighbors Sunrise Bakery, and you better believe that beermosas are on the menu, too. 🍻
The Burl Arcade
Sunday July 7
We still haven’t made it to a Burl brunch, but there’s so much to love about this format! This week Forage Food Truck will be on the scene serving up southern favorites, along with the steadfast Bloody Mary bar and brunch cocktails. 🍸 Did we mention it’s both kid- and dog-friendly? ✅🧒🐶

Check out these high-creativity, low-maintenance brunch recipes that are sure to impress guests of all ages! This post has us wondering: How many tons of strawberries and blueberries are sold during the week of July 4?!
Some assembly required, but otherwise a fun, fruity twist on breakfast food that can be customized in so many ways!
What’s great about brunch is getting a little bit of breakfast and a little bit of lunch. Very few July 4 recipes are what you’d call ‘savory,’ but this definitely recipe definitely fits the bill.
Again, fruit and assembly, but oh so easy and pleasing to the eye!
What’s more fun about cheese boards, the shopping or the consuming? Just kidding, it’s definitely the consuming! Since most cheeses are white and many meats are red, the possibilities here are endless. Garnish with a few blueberries and you’re all set!
Burgers and brunch go together like champagne and grapefruit juice. Mmm! This one honors the patriotic theme with red (tomato), white (bun), and ‘blue’ (cheese).
We’ve seen many a recipe for kids concoctions, and not one of them included a fun mixer, until now. You probably already have all the ingredients at home in or around your bar!
We lied a little bit on this one. Ok, we lied a lot. This is not a low-maintenance recipe, in fact, it’s quite the opposite, and there are a lot of steps. That said, if you pull it off, you will become LEGEN(wait for it)DARY among your friends. Trust us, we’ve mastered the Caramel Apple (Vodka) Jello Shots, which are now a Friendsgiving staple.
